BPD and NDIS
Meeeting Notes, February 2021
** Important Note **
The information on this page was correct at the time of publication (February 2021)
It does NOT include any subsequent changes to the NDIS system, made after that date
If you heard Deb Milford speak on BPD and the NDIS at February’s Sanctuary meeting, I’m sure you’d agree with us that it was special!
Among the many positive emails from members, one of you wrote:
“Sanctuary was FANTASTIC tonight! She is AMAZING! Thank you so much for organising her… so articulate, knowledgeable of BPD….!!!!!”
We agree.
Deb gets BPD, knows the NDIS system and knows how to share her knowledge
She explained how to apply for NDIS and she provided a set of notes: Its all about the Legislation
Deb has helped many BPD Consumers access NDIS funding and reminded us how painful and lengthy the application process can be…
But also that NDIS funding is lifelong and life changing for carers and for those they care about
As Deb might say: Start gathering your evidence
(there is a recording of Deb’s presentation. Members may listen on request)
NDIS is the National Disability Insurance Scheme, a scheme of the Australian Government that supports Australians with disability with funding, to build skills and capability, so they can participate socially and economically in the community.
NDIS application forms are available from the NDIS website
* Access Request Form
* Psychosocial Disability
Here are some helpful documents, to guide you in gathering evidence in support of your application:
* Carers Guide to NDIS, from Carers SA
* Example Carer’s Statement, from Deb
* GP Toolkit Understanding Your Role in the NDIS, from Brisbane North PHN
